Decanter 94

A lovely wine to take note of in 2018. It has salinity and the kind of freshness that reminds me that it's still the exception to find wines like this, even in a much more balanced year in St-Emilion such as 2018. You just want to sink into its caress. It's not as concentrated as some but is so good. Tasted again at Moueix, confirming the quality of this wine. A new winery was ready for the 2018 vintage at La Serre. There was no mildew, giving healthy yields. 50% new oak. Stéphane Toutoundji consults. Drinking Window 2026 - 2040

James Suckling 92-93

Very juicy and dense with a gorgeous center palate of ripe berries and cherries, full body and a soft and silky-textured finish.

Jancis Robinson 16.5/20

80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc planted on clay on the limestone plateau. Barrel sample. Deepest cherry red. Spicy, ripe and intensely fruity on the nose, so rich, plus a touch of toasty oak and vanilla increasing the sweetness of the aroma. Tangy and beautifully fresh even with all this lovely fruit. Not complex but over-delivers on polished, deep fruit. Tannins are full but already completely rounded. (JH) Drink 2022-2028

Parker 89-91

Lisa Perrotti-Brown. The 2018 La Serre is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it offers up seductive scents of baked blackberries, blueberry tart and warm plums with nuances of black raspberries, oolong tea and cloves plus a touch of mincemeat pie. The medium-bodied palate is soft and plush with background freshness supporting the berry preserves flavors, finishing with a peppery kick.
