Decanter 92/100

This has huge personality and is a wine to start taking serious note of. The fruits here are pretty dark, the Cabernet Franc really taking the lead, with more cool blue fruit than is usual with Grand Village, real grip and depth to the tannic hold and salinity through the finish. From the Guinaudeau family of Château Lafleur. 3.55pH. Drinking Window 2021 - 2033

Jancis Robinson 17/20

78% Merlot, 22% Bouchet (Cabernet Franc). Barrel sample. Deepest cherry red. Tangy fruit, more elderberry than cassis. Dark with fruit and lead pencils. Lovely intensity and depth, both of fruit and tannins. Concentrated but so fine in texture, layer upon layer of flavour and texture. Concentrated and still so juicy and fresh with great persistence. The tannins are fine and sweet, velvety but not heavy. (JH) Drink 2024-2034

Glengarry Review

There’s a lovely spiced note on the nose from the Cabernet Franc (22% of the blend, from old vines that were propagated from Chateau Lafleur), the Merlot (78% of the blend) then gives a dash of luscious plum fruit notes on the palate. This is very well poised, there’s a mineral driven structure that belies its price point.

Parker 90-93

Lisa Perrotti-Brown. The 2018 Grand Village is composed of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc; the Merlot was harvested September 24-28 and the Cabernet Franc was harvested October 5-6. Deep garnet-purple colored, it struts out of the glass with gregarious scents of wild blueberries, baked plums and warm blackcurrants with hints of chocolate-covered cherries, dusty soil, garrigue and charcuterie. Full-bodied and decadently fruited in the mouth, the palate features tons of black and blue fruit flavors with a firm, chewy frame and earthy finish.
