From around two hectares of vines on the plateau of Pomerol, the core of which are located opposite Lafleur, the 2021 La Fleur de Gay offers up aromas of sweet cherries, red berries, spices, pencil shavings and truffle. Medium to full-bodied, supple and sensual, it's fleshy and charming, with a textural core of fruit and lively acids. It's a blend of Merlot with 5% Cabernet Franc. William Kelley
Vinous 88-90
The 2021 La Fleur de Gay is much more successful than the La Croix de Gay this year, with more fruit and cohesion on the nose, for a start, while the palate is medium-bodied with fine grip. Not the most complex Pomerol this year, but there is a sense of balance and length. Neal Martin
