Parker 92-94Lisa Perrotti-Brown. Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 la Louviere flaunts a bold, brash nose of baked cherries, crème de cassis and blueberry pie with hints of woodsmoke, cedar chest, balsamic, black olives and menthol. Full-bodied and richly fruited, it has a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with a lingering minty lift.

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot; 50% new oak. Barrel sample. Colour of black cherries. Dusty/chalky nose. Dry and flat on the palate, with chalky dry tannins. One-dimensional and tough on the finish. There must be some fruit in there but it is all very subdued. (JH) Drink 2023-2027
