Decanter 91/100Sleek well-presented blueberry and blackberry fruits with a clear sense of lift and juice that runs through the palate. This is a successful Listrac where the tannins gather slowly together on the finish closing things down but with clear potential for future ageing.
James Suckling 92-93/100
A red with plenty of blackberry, earth and chocolate character. It’s full-bodied with lots of round tannins and a flavorful finish.
Neal Martin Vinous 90-92
The 2019 Fourcas Hosten has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, blueberry and attractive marine/seaweed scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, clove and brown spices infusing the black fruit with a fleshy finish. My first sample felt a bit monotone, but the 2nd and 3rd were much better, demonstrating more vivacity and tension. My score reflects those bottles.
