Wine Advocate 89-91

Neal Martin - The 2022 Arômes de Pavie comes from parcels on the plateau on the east side of Pavie. Matured in 50% new oak, it has a rich and opulent bouquet with blueberry, cassis, orange pith and vanillary aromas. Perhaps it needs a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, with light grip on the entry, balanced with a little chewiness. Layered black fruit lace with tar and tobacco, showing just a bit of firmness on the finish.

James Suckling 93-94

A juicy and rich wine with medium chewy tannins and a medium body. Racy. Plenty of crunchy fruit and energy. 50% merlot and 50% cabernet franc.

Vinous 90-92

Antonio Galloni - The 2022 Arômes de Pavie is a blend of equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It is undoubtedly a serious wine that offers a striking mix of fruit depth and vibrancy, all framed by incisive tannins that need to soften. Elevage will be critical in determining where this ultimately goes.

Parker 94-96

Jeb Dunnock "The second wine of this terrific château is the 2022 Aromes De Pavie, an even split of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (the same blend as the 2020). It might be the greatest second wine in the vintage, displaying a classic Pavie style in its ripe red and black fruits as well as notes of camphor, chocolate, violets, and graphite. Rich and powerful, with medium to full-bodied richness, it's going to be ideal for drinking on release and over the following 15-20 years."

Decanter 93

Jane Anson - This is a well made wine with interest, and an impressive reflection of the terroir, carefuly made, can feel the construction and gentle extractions, showing a distinctive identity of loganberry, blackberry and oyster shell salinity. The most impressive of the Pavie range if you are looking to open a bottle within the next five to eight years. Harvest 22 September to 24. It remains 100% dedicated plots, none of the new additions (Pavie Decesse and Bellevue-Mondotte) are included here. Vines 50 years average age, 50% new oak.
